Time Passing

Sometimes in movies they will show a character carrying out tasks at work for a day or two. After that the character is shown only walking out of the building, revealing that days are going by without wasting time in putting the audience through all the mundane tasks that are apart of everyday.
Today I was walking home from work and I was thinking about this, wishing this was the case for me. I only have to work at this job for a couple of months, yet I still wish I could be walking home for two months, rather than having to go through the whole day, each day.
